Balloons

Callie loves balloons. Every time we plan on stopping a few places to go shopping. We stop and get her a balloon and she is entertained the whole trip. It also helps mommy find her if she steps away in a store. In the picture she is at home holding her balloon while she eats her fruit snacks (she loves fruit snacks and asks for them hourly).

Pizza Night

Pizza night visits our house frequently. Our favorite is BBQ Chicken. This night Callie got to help roll the dough out. She really enjoyed being a part of the construction of the pizzas.

Bad News

This last October we found out that we would be expecting a baby. We went in for our first Doctors appointment in December and found out that the baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks. The Dr. told us that we could wait for the nature to take its course and miscarriage naturally or have a D&C. After having a second ultra sound and verifying that the baby hadn't grown, we decided to have a D&C. The week before Christmas I had the operation. Christmas wasn't the best this year with everything that went on, but I think all the things going on with Christmas kept my mind off of the loss.

I've dealt with this loss much better than I thought I would. Maybe mentally I wasn't prepared for baby number 2. But I understand why this happened and it makes sense. I'm amazed at how complex our bodies are. My body knew that something was not right with this pregnancy (whether it was the brain not growing right or the heart not forming correctly) and it stopped the pregnancy. Maybe the child that was going to get this body, didn't need to be tested here on earth, it only needed a body. I'm happy that I was able to give him or her that gift. We won't know until after this earthly life on whether or not this is true, but I can't wait to find out.

Since I've had a healthy pregnancy before, the Dr. said that it shouldn't be an issue getting pregnant again or having another healthy child. We are going to wait a bit though. We don't want a holiday baby, so we will do some planning.

I'm so grateful for the gospel in my life. It gives me hope, comfort, and knowledge. I'm grateful for this body and the unknown power it really does have. I'm grateful for my husband that has been by my side this whole time.

I was craving to go shopping (we didn't get to do much Christmas shopping), so Loren took me out thrift store shopping.I found this awesome table at the DI and it didn't have a price on it. All the rest of the tables had $40 on them, but they were way worse off then this one. I asked what the price was and they had to go and pull out the pricing lady. She said that it was just new to the store today and that it was much higher cost then the other tables there. Because she was in the Christmas spirit she gave it to us for $40. I was amazed.

It has a leaf to extend the table to fit around 10 people. It does need a little help on the finish on the top, but who doesn't like a little work to make it your own. It also doesn't have any chairs, but I wanted to do a mismatch look with all black chairs or maybe even different color chairs. I do love the chunky legs. I'm hoping it fits in the house and doesn't look too big. We will just have to see.

I couldn't believe it when I turned around and saw Callie giving her babies a checkup. It was too cute. I love seeing her use her imagination and creativity.

Christmas with the family

We were able to have Loren's family over for Christmas dinner and open a few gifts together. Callie received a cute little bouncy horse with reins (she hasn't figured it out yet though). Lots of books, play dough, and toys. Grandpa even made her a pair of chaps for her to wear while riding Rowdy.

This year we spent Christmas together at home. Call enjoyed opening her stockings.
But was soon distracted with the fruit inside.She loved the Mr. Potato Head set sent from Aunt Susan and Marquel from Kansas.Daddy was surprised by the food strainer Santa brought.Daddy ended up opening up most of Callie's gifts because she got a little distracted.Christmas morning was a great even if Loren had to open most of the gifts.

Decorating the tree

The tree has been up since July, but we finally got around to decorating it a week before Christmas. I got all the ornaments out and Callie and Daddy decorated the entire tree. Callie loved looking at each ornament. It was fun seeing her excitement to see each one. It was a nice evening spent with the family.

The other day Callie was playing and all of a sudden dropped everything she was doing. She ran into the kitchen and grabbed the rolling pin. She came back and rolled her fruit snack wrapper flat. (we've never shown her how to use a rolling pin)
Then she continued to fold the trash.After she had it flat and folded she asked for tape. I went and got her tape and she put it on the fold. Maybe she was wrapping a gift? or making something? But what a creative mind. I sure do love this little girl

This year there weren't many Christmas activities that I got around to doing with Callie, so I decided to buy one of those Gingerbread house kits. Callie loved putting the candies on the house. She did so much better than what we thought she would.Deciding on where to put the candy.

In November I had to call in reinforcements to help with all the Etsy orders and to help with Callie. My mother greatly volunteered. It was wonderful having her here. She doesn't get to spend much time with Callie since she lives in Wichita and we live in Boise. They connected right away and Callie enjoyed every minute. Callie even cried when grandma left to get on the plane. Here they are playing with the helmets.

So busy

I've been so busy that I haven't had time to keep up with the blog or the cleaning around the house. I've got 4 more orders to get out and I'll be done for the year. I'm getting so excited to get these quiet books finished up and shipped out. They take a little longer than stockings do, but I have until next week to finish them up.

This year we ended up having a total of 600 orders. I still can't believe how well we did. I'm not looking forward to doing taxes though. I am getting excited to see what next year brings. I will be doing things a little different come next Christmas. I'm even excited to get some new things out at the beginning of the year.

Callie has an obsession with babies right now. She kept walking from one carrier to the next watching the babies.

Halloween Costume

I know this is a little late, but I had to post my first home made costume for Callie. I knew I wanted her to be Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz and Loren and I found the cute little red shoes a while back. I didn't have a pattern for her size dress, so I looked at the picture and designed one myself in less than 2 hours. I think it came out pretty well and fit her amazingly well. For my first home made costume, I think it came out pretty cute.

Burlap Tree Skirts

I finished my tree skirts last night. I made one that matched my red burlap stockings, but it took such a long time to do all the pleats that I had to charge a larger amount than what I wanted to. Callie has recently been telling us when she needs to go to the bathroom. We don't want to not take her, so we take her each time she tells us. This night we were in the middle of dinner, and she wouldn't put down her corn. You might as well teach multi tasking at an early age.

My Etsy site doing pretty good and I've had a few people request items for free and in turn I get free advertising with their blog. I've done a Dr. Seuss hat and a couple of coloring wallets, but I've passed on many of them. I've gotten some good feedback from it though, but the best one so far is something I didn't have to do anything. Yesterday ohdeedoh.com did an article on fabric quiet books and my COLORS book got chosen. I'm so excited! I've gotten so many views from their site. Hopefully it continues in lots of sales.

I've been making custom name books and selling them on Etsy for a while now. I've been meaning to make a generic quiet book for those who's names aren't long enough and make a pattern for others to make them self, but I just haven't had the time to do it. I had someone on Etsy want one without even seeing it, so it got my butt moving a little faster. This is my end result. I'm pretty excited about this book. Now I just need to write the pattern.

The Western Idaho State Fair even had a petting zoo. Callie loved all the animals. I think the best was watching Loren seeing her interact with the animals. She wasn't afraid at all of feeding and petting the larger animals.

Loren and I have been canning like crazy lately and to keep Callie entertained we usually put the box of rings on the ground for her to play with. All of a sudden she was being quiet, so I turned around to find her playing in a bottle of pectin that I forgot was in the box. I couldn't be mad at her because I was the one who gave it to her.

I'm sorry I am just now posting pictures of our trip to Kansas. We got back to Idaho and I was tackled by Etsy orders. On top of that, I had to plan a bridal shower, help with parts of the wedding (by the way Mandy, it was beautiful), canned 60 quarts of pears, 48 quarts of peaches, 7 quarts green beans, 7 quarts tomatoes, 7 pints salsa, and got called into the Primary presidency at church. Wow...just looking back, I'm shocked I've even got anything done.

So for the next few days I'm hoping to blog a lot of pictures and hopefully some videos of Callie from the past month. But don't get mad if it takes me a couple of weeks. I'm in the process of canning spaghetti sauce and many other things, writing 2 sewing patterns, sewing a 9 page quiet book and all the rest of my Etsy orders, planning a neighborhood BBQ, and writing and preparing for a primary program in October for church. Lets just hope I have enough energy to get through it all plus all the Christmas orders on their way (cross your fingers they are on their way).

The other day I was on Pintrest and I found a girl who copied my COLOR fabric quiet book. I was so mad. She isn't trying to sell them, but still, change the color or do something different. I guess she did do something different. She changed the flowers to balloons. I guess I just need to design a little boy's COLORS book, and I have just the thing in mind. But back to my story, I was so frustrated and thinking of the new things I need to do I overdosed on my Zyrtec. I had grabbed 7 pills from the bathroom and sat them down on the bed to put them in the weekly container. I caught myself putting #5 into my mouth. I usually dump all my nightly pills on the bed and take one by one. I just never remembered to put the 7 Zyrtec away. I quickly woke up Loren and we called poison control. The nurse on duty said I would be fine, but that I would be really sleepy. I couldn't believe that I had been so occupied with this lady copying me that I took so many pills. I guess I've got to be carefully staying up too late.

While we were in Kansas we tried going to a movie. Callie made it through the preview and 5 min of the movie and she was wanting to run up and down the aisle. So for the next hour, we played on the fake horse and pushed buttons in the arcade. It wasn't until Grandma came out of the movie and put money in the horse that she new it actually moved. She was thrilled. Her face showed all of her excitement.

Playing outside with the bubbles, the girls found out that if you water down the siding, the bubbles stick to the wall. Callie loved seeing and playing with the bubbles. The only bad part was that she was soaking wet and sticky.

I helped set up a garage sale this past weekend and they had this sofa table. It wasn't too pleasing to the eye, but I knew it could be great. I ended up getting if for $10 and turned it into this. I'm on the look out for additional pieces for the living room(side tables and an entry table) to do in the same finish. It only took me a weekend to finish and we love it!Don't mind the empty frame, I was too excited to show you the finished product. There will be baskets going on the bottom shelf too, but I'll have to wait to get those.

Wichita Zoo

The zoo in Wichita is much larger than the zoo in Boise, so we had to go. Callie loved seeing all the animals. She even got to pet and feed a giraffe. Not enough horses

Grandma's House

The first thing Callie played with at Grandma's house was the old spring horse. She loved it and by the end of the trip she was crawling on it herself and riding up a storm. She is my little cowgirl.

Kansas Trip

I was so worried to take Callie on the airplane to Kansas this year. She won't sit through church in one spot, so how was I suppose to keep her on my lap for 2-2 hour flights. Well, she surprised the heck out of me. The first leg, she was very content with the video on the flight and looking out the window. The second leg, we ate lots of snacks and read lots of books, but towards the end she did get very cranky.

On the first leg back to Idaho she fell asleep and slept the whole flight. On the second leg, it was a different story. We were put in an aisle set and it was hard to keep her on my lap. It didn't help that I hadn't gotten a wink of sleep the night before. I tried feeding her, reading to her, singing to her, everything...but nothing worked. Finally on the decent into Boise she fell asleep. I knew she was sleepy, but she went so fast. I couldn't even wake her up to see her daddy. She was too sleepy. She even took a 2 hour nap later that day. I guess traveling takes it out of you.

Callie's Friends

Callie's has been needing some girl friend time, so I invited some of my friends over with their girls. They had so much fun playing in the pool, sandbox, and all the outside toys. I loved seeing them play together so well. What is it about the gentleness of a girl compared to little boys? There was no fighting, pushing, or pulling. There was an occasional temper tantrum, but that comes with any child. Not only did Callie have a great day that included a 2 hour nap in her own bed, but mommy had a wonderful day.

I was reading this blog that I love http://vintagerevivals.blogspot.com/ and she had just posted pictures of a room she had just redone. It was gorgeous, and I was thinking, I can do that. So I hopped over to craigslist to see if there was something I need to buy. I did a search for furniture under $50 and this beauty came up.

Last month we sold my queen bedroom set to get a king size bed. We have been living out of plastic bins. I was planning on redoing furniture and making our room more of a collection. So...when I saw this for $25, I was very excited. Loren and I went and took a look at it and it was in great shape except for the paint and that is what I had planned on doing. I love the vintage look, but most of all I love the vintage hardware.

Loren dropped it off so he could return the pickup vehicle (thanks Kyle) and before he had returned, I had the hardware off and was sanding this bad boy.

I'm so excited to redo this piece. The only problem is I don't know what color I want to paint it. I want your opinion. Loren and I love the room the color it is (storm cloud blue)

and I need to have it go with that color.

I made up a digital invitation last night on the computer for my sister-in-laws bridal shower and I think it came out pretty cute. People are selling these things like crazy on Etsy. Custom order

I hit 200 sales this last month and exceeded my previous revenue high on Etsy. Someone had requested a custom hat and I thought I would show you what I made. I was very excited on how it came out. The hat took a little longer than what I thought it would to hand stitch, but the detail was awesome. I really like the red fish. The best thing about the whole thing was how happy the customer was.

I can't believe how much stuff we have. Our community garage sale is coming up in 2 weekends, so I decided to have a few things in our drive way for sale. Come to find out, I'm willing to part with much more then that.

I've cleaned out Callie's room, the hallway closest, and now I'm migrating to the master bedroom. I must be in a simplifying mood. Anything we haven't used in the past year is going to be in this garage sale. I even went through all of Callie's old clothes that have already been boxed up and pulled out things I never put her in (if I didn't put Callie in them, I probably won't put the next one in it either). Hopefully I have time to go through everything before this garage sale.

I'm even selling my bedroom set. We've decided we want to move up to a king mattress and my bed frame is a queen, so why keep the dresser and night stand if we don't have a matching headboard. Hopefully the sell of the bedroom set can buy us that new king mattress.

Sometimes it feels good to get rid of stuff and simplify our lives.

Callie has been playing outside so much lately and we are trying to make sure she gets enough fluids. She enjoys water, but doesn't drink a whole cup full. We only give her 100% juice and you can't find too many different flavors at the store we shop. I did find it in a box juice. She loves them. I don't know if it is the little straw she likes to drink from or what, but she will drink all 6 oz of the juice. It is pretty cute seeing her be very gentle with bag of juice so she doesn't squeeze it and loose any of it.

Bugs

Callie has just figured out bugs. She is always looking on the ground for the random ant or in the dirt for worms. The other day I looked outside to see what she was doing and I found her playing with a rolly polly. If was so cute watching her try to figure out this little bug that continued to roll up. Then all of a sudden she smashed it. Oh, gross! She didn't mind one bit. She just went on playing.

Helping out

Our vacuum broke a while back and we were waiting for a part to come in. After waiting 2 weeks and not hearing anything...I went in to the store to find out the issue. Come to find out, the manufacture doesn't even have the part and they don't know when they will have the part. Come on people, don't you think it would help giving me a call and telling me this. Loren and I had called the shop 3 times to find out what was going on. We will not be doing business with them anymore. I couldn't wait any longer. I had them cancel my order and we went out that night and bought a new vacuum. Going over the living room once filled up the tank. I couldn't believe how dirty it was. We did have a little helper with her own vacuum. I'm so happy to have a vacuum. I think I've vacuumed every day since.

Sprinklers

While Grandma Smith was in town, we had wonderful weather. One evening we were setting up the sprinklers and Callie couldn't get enough of running through them and getting wet. The next day we put her in her swim suit, but she didn't want anything to do with the sprinklers. I guess it is a little colder when you have bare skin.

Computer Baby

Callie will not let you sit down and do anything. If you begin to type, she pulls your hands away. Her hand has to be on the mouse. I'm pretty amazed that she knows how to use the mouse and can find it on the screen. We've got a little computer baby on our hands.

Garden

The garden is on its way. Callie loves playing with the dirt and today she tried it. I tried to get her to spit it out, but I don't think it phased her. Oh well, dirt can't hurt. I did get a great picture of her playing with the seeds. It's going to be a great summer playing outside.

Callie was playing in her room while I was putting away her clean clothes. She sat down and pointed to her toes and said toes. WOW! I was shocked. I haven't worked very much with that body part, and it came out of the blue. Let alone knowing where it was, but that she said toes. She is such a smart little cookie.

Sorry I haven't had much time to post let alone take pictures. Etsy has really taken off this last month and we are off to a good start in May also. April had 39 orders and so far I've had 10 orders (plus one to Loren's co-worker) in May. I'm still loving designing and making the items, but I sure do love the extra money. If things keep on as they are...I don't know what is going to happen this Christmas.

reading the scriptures

Every evening, we read the scriptures with Callie. We thought we would start out with the picture book to try to get her interested, but all she does is try to do is distract us and get us to laugh. It is pretty hard to get through a story when you have a giggling gremlin on your lap.

We have lived in this house for 3 years now, and I still don't know what I want to do with our family room. It is long and skinny. Callie has been wanting to play with the mouse and keyboard when I'm on the computer, so I let her play her own game today. She was talking to every animal, it even sounds like she says zebra if you listen carefully. Callie has become very vocal lately, one of these days she will just start talking our ears off.

I bought a little bag of white powdered doughnuts on Monday and Callie loved them. She would get so excited if she heard the packaging and start screaming and swinging her arms.

Here she is begging for a bite.
Then she snatched the doughnut out of my hand and ran to the corner. Here she had been caught.But of course she will give me one of her goofy smiles, white mouthed and all.

packing down the dirt

This weekend Loren filled in all the holes in the backyard that the dog dug up. When he was packing down the dirt, Callie followed in his footsteps. You don't see it in the video, but after he would move off the dirt spot, she would stand on it and jump again. She is too dang cute!

Mouse Pads

I wanted to brag a little about my amazing husband. He got some more leather working supplies and was able to make some new mouse pads. He is still working on his talent, but I think he is pretty awesome. He even sold the star mouse pad within 24 house of posting it on Etsy.

Sunday

Sunday's are getting harder with Callie. Callie goes down for a nap at 10am and usually doesn't wake up until after 11am. I don't want to mess with her schedule, so we miss sacrament meeting. Then she won't sit still during Sunday school and Relief Society. If we are in class, she is usually going through other people's bags. It's a pain to keep her contained to just my bag or the area around me. Therefore, I spend all of the church we do go to, out in the hallway. I can't wait until she is 18 months and can go into nursery.

Don't mind the two spots on her forehead. She had a run in with the cement patio in the back. Callie was practicing crawling in and out of the back door when her foot got caught and she face planted into the cement. Poor little girl. She does look pretty cute in her little Sunday outfit though.
