It's getting cold outside

Every morning after breakfast Callie and I take the dog for a walk. Lately it's been getting cold. This morning I dug around in her closet to find her hat and mittens. The mittens go up to her elbows, but they do their job. She's one warm cute baby.

I love this girl

I tried my ball cap on Callie the other day and she loved it. I couldn't believe she kept it on for a while. I love this little girl and her cute personality.

Food Storage

Loren and I have really been working on gaining a food storage. Our church has been telling the member that we need to have a year supply of food. You never know when you are going to loose an income and or have a major disaster. Loren and I have been working on our food supply for the past 2 years. In our kitchen pantry we have about a 3 month supply of food. We have expanded to all parts of the house. The laudry room pantry. The guest bedroom plant shelf. The garage. We even had to raise the cat food and put totes of flour, sugar, pasta, and much more. But it does help to keep the dog away from the cat food. I had a lot of fun canning this year which has helped in our efforts. We ended up getting 4 quarts tomatoes, 12 quarts carrots, 19 quarts greenbeans, 47 quarts peaches, 7 pints peaches, and 11 pints of peach jelly. We even froze much of the produce from our garden. We have 2 gallon bags of green beans, 1 gallon bag of corn, 2 gallon bags of tomatoes, and 1 gallon bag of green peppers. Next year we will try to get 52 quarts of each veggie and fruit. When it comes to meal planning it will make it a lot easier (each week we get to open a jar of each and when they are gone they are gone and we have to wait for the next week to open a new jar).

Food storage does bring a peace of mind. I know if anything happens to us, we will be prepared. Now for this next year we will be working on a year supply of other things : toilet paper, tooth paste, personal needs, water (I better start making room in the garage), and anything we use within a year.

One sleepy baby

The other day after I fed Callie, I tried to sneak in fixing my lunch while she was busy doing other business in her chair. I turned around and saw my baby starting to nod off. I ran to get the camera and by the time I got back, she was asleep. I guess eating and popping takes it out of you.

First Tooth

August 30 is when we spotted Callie's first tooth. This is the best picture I can get of it. The only time she opens her mouth is to eat or to scream, so sorry about the food all over her face. She has been pretty cranky with it coming in. We are dealing as best as we can, but we are not looking forward to the next one.

That's new!

Callie has always put things into her mouth, but this was new. She was so into playing in the water that she put the toy in her mouth and needed her hands to keep playing. Callie kept putting it in there to get us to laugh. She is too funny.

crawling in circles

Callie has learned to crawl in circles, but now she needs to learn how to go straight.

laughing at toys

I caught Callie playing and laughing by herself at her toy.

Today we went to the church orchard to pick some peaches for us and for the church. We ended up picking 200 lbs of peaches for us and who knows how much for the church. We ended up only paying $.23 a lb. We will be canning for days. Callie was such a good girl for the entire time we were there, not even a peep while sitting in her car seat. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a photo shoot and I love the black and white one I ended up getting of her in the harvesting bag.

Waking up

This is what we catch Callie doing every morning and after every nap time. On her belly playing and talking with her monkey.

Playing with Daddy

Callie had a ball trying to pull the toy off of daddy's head. Sorry I can't get this one to turn, the picture is correct in the file, but continues to upload facing the wrong direction.
